PPSSPP

Although it is a good source of entertainment, Sony's Play Station Portable (PSP) has a few disadvantages, like a small screen or the cramps-inducing controls. PPSSPP gives you the possibility of playing PSP games on other devices. Instead of struggling with the PSP's compact controls, you can enjoy your games on a computer or on various smartphones. Besides comfortable controls, a higher resolution and better graphics are also offered by the application.

The application is offered free of charge, but you can also buy it, for a price of your choice. It is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and it also comes for Android, iOS, Blackberry and other operating systems. When it comes to installing PPSSPP, you can either extract its components from a ZIP archive or opt for a standard installer.

Importing a PSP game into PPSSPP is quite easy. All you have to do is load an ISO image of the game disc and the application will do the rest. You can browse through your local folders on its user interface and select such file types to import and run them or you can hit a Load option, on the left side of the window and import the files just like in any other application.

Recently played games are displayed as thumbnails, on the same interface, but on a different tab. This gives you the possibility of launching your favorite games at a moment's notice, with a single click. The application allows you to play them in full screen or windowed mode. What's more, PPSSPP is capable of playing games in full HD resolution. When playing a game that is designed for small screens on a large screen, you will notice a significant quality drop in its visual quality. Fortunately, the software can upscale textures, so they won't appear blurry on a large screen. You can also find a wide array of options in the general settings menu, which enable you to configure numerous aspects, from controls to video or audio quality.
